(with the warriors - Petratika)
The mansion of Papamarkos in Petratika, Paxos, has been designated as a historical building (Government Gazette 609/B/3-7-80), because with its simple volume composition, plain facades with symmetric arrangement of openings, the materials with which it is constructed, and the garden with the olive trees surrounding it, it constitutes a characteristic example of a typical aristocratic country mansion of the Ionian Islands.
Papamarkos Petros was born in 1747 in Petratika of Lakka, he was a priest and held the title of "Great Oikonomikos." He came from a wealthy and reputable family of Paxos. He passed away on March 9, 1831, and was buried in the church of Agios Andreas in Lakka. His tomb is located near the entrance of the women's door of the church, and the plaque reads as follows: "The burial of the blessed, the end of the patriot, virtuous and brave man, Priest Markos Oikonomou son of Petros."
